Bangladesh government is trying to sign a deal with Facebook authorities soon in an attempt to tackle politically and sexually harassing posts.
In a meeting at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) office on Tuesday, Tarana Halim, state minister for post and telecommunication, disclosed the ongoing initiative to the reporters.
The government in 2006 had an opportunity to take the initiative with Facebook, but they did not do it, Tarana said, and added, “Hence, politicians and women often face harassment through statuses and posts on Facebook.”
Tarana said that the ruling Awami League-led government is planning to sign a deal with Facebook authorities after inviting them in the country as soon as possible.
